Zot!: The Complete Black and White Collection: 1987-1991<\/em> by Scott McCloud<\/h1>\n

Curt Holman thought I might enjoy these, and I have enjoyed his non-fiction works on Comics in general.\u00a0 I picked it up used during an Amazon buying binge a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n

It’s an odd little ole comic, this is.\u00a0 It’s rough, and not super sophisticated.\u00a0 But it’s got an interesting feel to it.<\/p>\n

Like Heroes<\/em> and Misfits<\/em>, it toys with the “What if Superheroes were in the real<\/em> world?” motif.\u00a0 How can you be in the right place and right time to find a crime to stop?<\/p>\n

But it’s actually not about a superhero all that much.\u00a0 The folks around Zot! actually become bored with his crime-fighting, and the focus of the narrative is often around people chatting while Zot is off-panel battling.\u00a0 So, it’s about people.\u00a0 Young teenagers, to be exact.<\/p>\n

And those guys are always… interesting.<\/p>\n
