{"id":1710,"date":"2011-11-09T21:53:01","date_gmt":"2011-11-09T21:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/journal.electric-rocket.com\/?p=1710"},"modified":"2011-11-09T21:53:01","modified_gmt":"2011-11-09T21:53:01","slug":"book-log-the-miracle-life-of-edgar-mint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journal.electric-rocket.com\/?p=1710","title":{"rendered":"Book Log &#8211; The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint<\/em> by Brady Udall<\/p>\n<p>I thought his <em>Lonely Polygamist<\/em> was a masterpiece, and this earlier work is pretty darn good, too.<\/p>\n<p>We follow the life of a half-Native-American\/half-Caucasian boy who had his head run over by a mailman at the age of 7.<\/p>\n<p>And, um&#8230; hmm.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, I&#8217;m thinking of ways to describe this book, but they all sound depressing in my head.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not a depressing book&#8230; it&#8217;s just a roller-coaster of hardship with interesting characters.<\/p>\n<p>Brady Udall has a deft touch with his characters.\u00a0 He can make them gritty without being depressing, though in hindsight, they really should be.<\/p>\n<p>Good book.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to pick up anything else he&#8217;s written, &#8217;cause he&#8217;s 2 for 2.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint by Brady Udall I thought his Lonely Polygamist was a masterpiece, and this earlier work is pretty darn good, too.
