Therefore, lipstick sales tend to increase during times of<br \/>\neconomic uncertainty or a recession.<\/p>\n<p>Investopedia Says:<br \/>\n&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<br \/>\nThis term was coined by Leonard Lauder (chairman of Estee Lauder), who<br \/>\nconsistently found that during tough economic times, his lipstick sales went<br \/>\nup. Believe it or not, the indicator has been quite a reliable signal of<br \/>\nconsumer attitudes over the years.
