{"id":89,"date":"2004-06-15T14:12:00","date_gmt":"2004-06-15T14:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/journal.electric-rocket.com\/?p=89"},"modified":"2025-04-20T12:26:52","modified_gmt":"2025-04-20T12:26:52","slug":"ocd-moments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journal.electric-rocket.com\/?p=89","title":{"rendered":"OCD moments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I&#8217;m driving to pick up <lj user=steakums>&#8216;s laptop, which just had a fan so clogged with dust that it wouldn&#8217;t spin.  <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sitting at a red light behind a big SUV which has dried mud-dust on it.  But on the rear hatch, amidst the caked mud, there is a clean spot in the perfect shape of a heart.  It looks like there was a heart shaped bumper sticker or something on the car, it got dirty, and then someone pulled off the sticker.<\/p>\n<p>And my question is&#8230; why?  <\/p>\n<p>Why did someone choose to remove this heart shaped sticker?<br \/>\nWhy was it there in the first place, if they didn&#8217;t want it?<br \/>\nIf they were trying to make the car look nicer, why didn&#8217;t they clean off the mud?<br \/>\nOr are they driving to a car wash to get the mud off?<br \/>\nDid the kids stick it on, against the parents&#8217; wishes?<br \/>\nDid some anti-SUVer stick a &#8220;love mother earth&#8221; sticker on the SUV?<br \/>\nPerhaps the mud was there before the sticker, and the mud prevented the sticker from staying on, but pulled the mud off when it fell?<\/p>\n<p>It bothered me all the way to CompUSA.<\/p>\n<p>This morning as I was taking a shower I tried to sort out a jumble of scenes in my head and attribute them to either <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0081466\/\"><i>Scout&#8217;s Honor<\/i><\/a> or <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0082849\/\"><i>On The Right Track<\/i><\/a>, both Gary Coleman movies from the early 80s, both about a plucky orphaned black kid who turns some white people&#8217;s worlds on their ears.  <\/p>\n<p>Back to reality&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I&#8217;m driving to pick up &#8216;s laptop, which just had a fan so clogged with dust that it wouldn&#8217;t spin.
