As much as I hate to be reduced to voting against someone instead of voting my ideals, I’ll be voting against Georgie this year.
Ordinarily, I would vote Libertarian. But I guess I’m voting for Democratic-nominee-TBD. It’s sort of “lesser of two evils”, but since Georgie is Evil with a capital E, he pulls the scale so far out of whack it almost makes anyone else slide into the “good” catagory.
*sigh*. I wonder if we could get Jimmy Carter to run again.
I’ve always wanted to drag Sam Nunn out of retirement. Former chair of the armed services committee and against the war in Iraq. That’s a complex man.
Or Muhammed Ali. Who wouldn’t take Ali over Bush?
Jimmy Stewart
I wish Jimmy Stewart were alive. Then perhaps we could entice him to play Jefferson Smith for four years.
And we’d finally get that boys camp we so desperately need.
You own land in the Willett Creek watershed, don’t you?
Memo from Paine to Taylor
Terminate glenn5 with extreme prejudice.
If only Sam could have convinced his daughter to run for Senate….
What I really want
I just want a president I can be proud of. He/She can make mistakes. He/she can fail. I can even disagree with some of their policies, if they’re not inherently evil but merely a difference of opinion.
Even if they never accomplished anything in four years, but fought the good, honest fight so I could say, “we have a president who tries to do the right thing.”
Tall order.
Last time we had that was Carter.
What I really really want
Tall order indeed.
I doubt we’ll be seeing anybody of that sort for a while. Politics have become so partisan and journalism so yellow that anyone either saint-like or idealistic will get shot down before their campaign even takes off. Or turn to the Dark Side (see: Howard Dean).
No, I’m afraid we’re stuck with the ilk we have now.
I stopped playing the lottery because I was spending way too much time thinking wouldn’t it be cool if I won millions of dollars and what would I do if that happened.
I stopped watching the West Wing for the same reason. Spent too much time thinking wouldn’t it be cool if we really had an intelligent compassionate Chief Executive committed to public service….
West Wing
I’ve seen two episodes of West Wing, and I liked it a lot.
I saw one where they fixed Social Security. And I thought, wow. That puts a lot of pressure on the real government to fix it now, right? I mean, otherwise, the show’s reality will deviate too much from real reality, and no-one wants that. Better hop to it, government.
Maybe we should nominate Sheen?
or if not, Emilio Estivez?
